SHARP releases printing consumable chip usage statement

Recently, Sharp issued an official statement, saying that the Sharp (SHARP) brand laminators sold in China do not use electronic components such as Micron's new products.

Why would SHARP issue such a statement?

Micron Technology is the world's top memory chip manufacturer, second only to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix in terms of strength. Micron Technology also has a very strong presence in the Chinese market, with a 58% share of its revenue in the country at its peak.

On the evening of May 21, ChinaNetNews.com released the news that "Micron's products sold in China failed to pass the cybersecurity review". The news immediately generated a lot of attention.

As a result of the review, the cyber security of Micron's products was exposed as a potential problem, and it was determined by multiple parties that the continued use of these products would likely lead to security problems in our critical information infrastructure supply chain, resulting in a "fail" result for this review.

As one of the most important terminals for the final output of data and information, the security and confidentiality of printing devices is increasingly being taken seriously by party and government organs and confidential units at all levels. Therefore, it is only logical that print device manufacturers selling in the Chinese market should take the Micron incident seriously and issue a statement on purpose. After all, if the security of their products did not meet the requirements, the Chinese side would most likely not allow them to continue to capture the Chinese market as a large plate, in which case the losses would not be small.
